Do I Need to Take a Test to Become a Licensed Barber?
Upon completing the Class A Barber course offered at Quality Barber College in South Post Oak Houston, you’ll be required to take a state licensing exam to obtain recognition as a licensed barber. Our goal at QBC is to ensure that every student who completes our program possesses the knowledge and skills necessary to pass the exam and acquire a state license.
The exam consists of two parts: a written exam and a practical exam. The written portion must be completed within 100 minutes and is designed to assess your knowledge across various areas, from basic information like sanitation practices to more complex topics such as chemical treatments. The practical exam allows 180 minutes for completion. During this section, students must bring their own supply kits, models, and mannequins. A group of industry experts will evaluate your ability to perform seven different barber services, including shampooing, permanent waving, shaving, hair shaping, as well as facial and chemical services.
