At Quality Barber College, we pride ourselves on offering flexible scheduling to all of our students. We are often asked by those touring our school or calling for more information, “Can I Become a Barber in Less Than a Year?” The answer is, yes!

We offer two different curriculums to become a Class-A Barber in Texas. One is for those students who are able to attend full-time and the other is for students looking to come to our school on a part-time basis. Both of these programs can be completed in under a year’s time. We are flexible and understand our students are not all going to complete the program in the exact amount of time but our general guideline for these courses goes as follows:

Class A Barber

Clock Hours/Program Length:

1,000 Clock Hours

30 Weeks Full-Time; 34 Hours Per Week

50 Weeks Part-Time; 20 Hours Per Week

Course Description:

The Class A Barber Program consist of 1,000 hours of instruction. The course includes a combination of theory classes, practical mannequin work, and actual hands on clientele practice. The program will ensure that basic skills to more advanced skills are gained, as individuals proceed through the course. The course also ensures that students are also trained and prepared in State Board licensing applications and evaluations.

Am I Considered a Barber as Soon as I Graduate?

No, in on order to become a licensed barber you must complete a barber program and then pass a two part state licensing exam.

Test Results

At the conclusion of your written exam your results will appear on the screen and your score report will be emailed to you. It is important that we have your current email address on file so that you may receive your results the day of your exam. You may update your contact information online by following this link.

A score of 70% or better is required to pass the exam. You may retake each exam as many times as needed until you successfully pass the examination, however you may be responsible for paying additional examination fees with each attempt.
