Do I Have To Take A Test In Order To Become A Licensed Barber?
Once you complete the Class A Barber course offered at Quality Barber College in South Post Oak Houston, you will need to take a state licensing exam in order to become recognized as a licensed barber. Our goal at QBC is to ensure every student that goes through our program gains the knowledge and skills needed to pass the exam and earn a state license.
The test will be broken up into two parts, a written exam and a practical exam. Students will have 100-minutes to complete the written portion of the exam. The written portion of the exam is designed to test your knowledge of everything from basic information, such as sanitation practices, to more complex topics, like chemical treatments. The practical exam allows for 180-minutes to complete. Students must bring their own supply kits, models, and mannequins for this portion of the test. A group of industry experts will assess your ability to perform seven different barber services: shampooing, permanent waving, shaving, hair shaping, as well as facial and chemical services.

For students enrolled in our full-time Class A Barber Course, the class curriculum lasts for 30 weeks, for part-time students enrolled in this course, they can graduate in 50 weeks.
